Sustained Investigation

Inquiry Question

My sustained investigation will be guided by the question: how can I express the intensity of my feelings using the symbol of birds in my ink illustrations? I will draw from many sources of inspiration, such as Jake Weidmann, family, and nature. I will use inks with various techniques to achieve stark contrast in color. Through these processes, I share the human experience of emotions such as grief, depression, and the violation of boundaries. Throughout the semester I grow with my artwork, coming to acceptance and release of these feelings. Along the way, I journal, making notes of unique and specific ways to describe my experiences, and then develop those ideas through sketches. Through revision, I will fine-tune my emotional expressions into completed works of art.
